David Stocklein's fascination with the ranching heritage of the American West led him to befriend, and subsequently photograph, the men and women still breathing life into the mythical figure of the cowboy.
When traveling to lecture and teach, David would always stress that every picture needs to tell a story. At the end of a long day of shooting, the grandchildren of Rob Brown sat on the fence to watch Jody Bellah ride his horse and David decided to take this backlit setting. He was a storyteller and as you can see, the story was told.
