Readily associated with movie stars, surfers, and sandy beaches, California is known as a trend-setting state where lives can change overnight. But cattlemen and cowboys are still prevalent in the modern-day Golden State, which has deep roots in some of America's oldest and most prestigious ranches. It is this reflection of the Old West that David Stoecklein captures in his photography, reminding us that there is still a future for the California cowboy. Although ranching is still a big part of California business, it is changing, and changing quickly. David's goal with this photographic journey was to preserve some snapshots of this proud time.
