Photography Workshops

Stoecklein Photography offers a series of photo workshops led by Drew and Taylor. Some workshops are held at and around David’s family private ranch, the Bar Horseshoe Ranch, in Mackay, Idaho (pronounced mack-key). The Bar Horseshoe Ranch is nestled against the tallest mountain peak in Idaho, Borah Peak, standing at 12,668 ft and folded into the majestic Big Lost mountain range. David’s wife, Mary, and two of their sons, Drew and Taylor, invite you to accompany them as they shoot photos of cowboys and cowgirls from nearby ranches.

Take your photography knowledge to a whole new level with Drew and Taylor as they shoot photos of real working cowboys and cowgirls at nearby ranches. You’ll find yourself shooting in the thick of the action and capturing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets in a gorgeous and remote setting. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to experience the western way of life.

A new addition to the Stoecklein photography workshops is Workshop Plus. This is a class held the day before the first day of shooting. The course, usually on a Friday, starts at 9:30am, ends at 4:00pm, and lunch is served around noon. The first photography workshop dinner is served later that evening. This is a class to teach you how to use the Lightroom5 program. Taylor Stoecklein will show you how to import photos, as well as explain all the basic functions of Lightroom5. Please have Lightroom5 downloaded on your laptop before the workshop begins. This is a fantastic course to get you familiar with your computer, Lightroom5, and your camera. It will really prepare you for the next two days of photography and it is the perfect jump start to an action-packed weekend. The course requires a separate sign-up from the photo workshop.

“September, 2014 was my first Stoecklein workshop and what a great experience! Drew and Taylor were excellent instructors, working from sunrise to sunset, out in the field shooting then helping us work on our images using Lightroom. I was also amazed at the unique photo opportunities provided. The Stoecklein hospitality is wonderful, I truly felt like a family guest the entire weekend. A Stoecklein Workshop is a great experience…I can see why folks return year after year.”
